How Much Does a UGC Video Cost and How to Negotiate?
On Youdji, each creator sets their own rates, and everything is negotiated with them. Here are some benchmarks to help you build your budget and negotiate without sacrificing quality.
How much does a UGC video cost?
There is no fixed price, but here are some benchmarks:
- around €150 excl. VAT for a video from a good creator, without script or editing;
- €150 to €200 excl. VAT if the creator writes the script and edits the video.
The rates shown on profiles (starting price for a video and for a photo) are set by the creators as a guide.
What affects the price?
- What you ask for: script, editing, extra hooks, number of videos.
- Usage: paid advertising costs more than organic use, and the duration of the usage rights can also play a role. See the article How does rights licensing work on Youdji?
- Logistics: travel to a shooting location, product gifted or to be returned.
- Posting on the creator's account, if you ask for it.
- The profile: experience, equipment, demand for this type of profile.
Follower count, however, doesn't count. Some creators offer a lower price per video if you order several.
Can you pay less than €100 per video?
No minimum applies when you contact a creator yourself, but we advise against going below around €100. Below that, you attract less experienced profiles and receive fewer replies: what little you save, you pay for in quality.
In a campaign, a budget that is too low can prevent your campaign from being approved.
Can you pay creators in products only?
No. Product-only compensation doesn't exist on Youdji: every collaboration is paid. You can, however, send your product in addition to the payment, either as a gift or to be returned.
How to negotiate?
There are two ways to go about it:
- You propose your price in the chat, along with what you expect (number of videos, script, editing, rights, deadline). You can send the same proposal to several creators, then adjust.
- You let the creator make their offer, then discuss it.
Either way, the creator is the one who sends the final offer. Until you've paid it, it doesn't commit you and the creator can still change it.
Our tips
- Don't push prices too low. Adding €20 or €30 sometimes gets you a noticeably better video.
- Ask for extra hooks rather than extra videos: the creator films several different openings for the same video, which costs less and lets you test several angles.
- Use the same usage-rights duration for all your creators, for example one year: you won't have a different date to track for each video.
